The Slab Foundation Repair Process: What Frisco Homeowners Should Know
Published July 6, 2026

If your Frisco home needs slab foundation repair, you probably have questions about what the process involves. Here's a step-by-step overview of what to expect, from the initial inspection to the final warranty.
Step 1: Free Inspection
A licensed foundation contractor visits your home to assess the foundation. They'll take elevation measurements around the perimeter of your home to determine how much settling has occurred. They'll also inspect for cracks, check doors and windows for alignment issues, and evaluate drainage and soil conditions around the foundation.
Step 2: Repair Plan and Estimate
Based on the inspection, the contractor provides a detailed repair plan. This includes the number of piers needed, their placement, the estimated depth of stable soil, and the total cost. A typical Frisco home needs 8–20 steel push piers, depending on the size of the home and the severity of the settling.
Step 3: Pier Installation
Steel push piers or helical piers are installed around the perimeter of the home. Small sections of the sidewalk or patio may be removed to access the foundation. The piers are driven deep into the ground until they reach stable soil or bedrock — often 15–40 feet deep in Frisco's clay soils. Each pier is load-tested to ensure it can support the weight of the home.
Step 4: Foundation Lifting
Once all piers are installed, hydraulic jacks are used to lift the foundation back to its original position. This is done gradually and carefully to avoid damaging the structure. The goal is to restore the foundation to within acceptable tolerances — typically within 1 inch of level.
Step 5: Backfill and Cleanup
The excavation areas are backfilled, and any removed concrete is replaced. The contractor cleans up the job site and leaves your property in good condition.
Step 6: Warranty
Most reputable contractors provide a transferable warranty on the piers and workmanship, typically 5 years to lifetime. This gives you peace of mind that the repair will last.
The entire process typically takes 2–5 days for an average Frisco home. Most repairs can be done year-round, and you can usually stay in your home during the work.
